Fernanda Zago

Our Positive Woman is Fernanda Zago, CEO of WEpayments, a Curitiba fintech specialized in instant and high-volume cross-border payments. A specialist in the national and international payments industry, Fernanda tells us about her trajectory in the financial market and the role of fintech in managing payments for Brazilian and international companies. “My career in payments started in 2011 when I returned from a season abroad in Brazil. I started working for a Uruguayan cross-border payments company and fell in love with the business, which was very innovative”, he says. “We are a fintech, a financial technology company, which at the same time is a payments institution with a complete platform that offers different payment methods, serving national and international companies that need to process high volumes of payments. Our agnostic business model also allows us to be payment processors for banks and brokers in Brazil”, he adds.




1. How did your career start?

My career in payments started in 2011 when I returned from a season abroad in Brazil. I started working for a Uruguayan cross-border payments company and fell in love with the business, which was very innovative.


2. How is the WePayments business model formatted?

We are a fintech, a financial technology company, which at the same time is a payments institution with a complete platform that offers various payment methods, serving national and international companies that need to process high volumes of payments. Our agnostic business model also allows us to be payment processors for banks and brokers in Brazil. With a platform that includes all payment methods, such as PIX collection, PIX transfer, TED, bank slip and credit cards, we process payments with the settlement of funds on the same day and for international companies, we manage the entire linked exchange rate operation to cross border payments.


3. What was the most difficult moment in your career?

Returning to the job market after the birth of my daughters and having to learn to balance my personal and professional life.


4. How do you manage to balance your personal life x corporate/entrepreneurial life?

With a lot of organization and a well-defined agenda. This agenda comprises all business, personal and family commitments.


5. What is your biggest dream?

Being able to travel the world and undertake in the food technology sector.


6. What is your greatest achievement?

Having founded WEpayments and having transformed it into a profitable and promising company in a very masculine and challenging sector.
